At the Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site, Roberta Sauerwein picks up some weaving tips from Mary Henderson Begay.
On Thursday, we had a great visit with Rose Dedman, who instructed us in Navajo techniques for vegetal wool dye. We used wild carrot, sage, cliff rose, Mormon tea, and rabbitbrush.
Patty Marshall and Leyba Dedman carry one of the dye pots past the drying yarn.
After dinner, we enjoyed the conversation. From left are Carol Mees, Cindy Dawson, Roberta Sauerwein, one of the Dedman grandchildren, Patty Marshall, Rose Dedman and Carol Wilkinson.
